The Temujin Treasures slot by Pragmatic Play has a lot going for it, but I do have a few reservations too. The RTP for the game of 96.55% is nothing short of stellar, but the very high volatility and variance could be an issue for some players. As I mentioned earlier, it is clear the Temujin Treasures slot has been designed for the medium-budget player, and it is refreshing to see a slot focus their attention on a specific player base, instead of trying to force a one-size-fits-all approach.
The top payout of 8888x is impressive, and the combination of bonus features is both unique and engaging. The visual quality of the Temujin Treasures slot is clear from the get-go, and it is exciting to see an Asian-themed slot that centres around a culture outside of China or Japan.
Now for my reservations. I think Temujin Treasures is an example of one of the releases that has been greatly impacted by the change in UK gambling regulations which prohibits the inclusion of Bonus Buy features for UK markets. Temujin Treasures was released back in 2021, before this legal shake-up, and it feels as though to get your ‘money’s worth’ from playing, you need to be accessing the bonus rounds. The base game symbol payouts are pretty poor, and though there is a wild symbol and the Wild Switch feature active to keep base gameplay entertaining, it is clear the bigger prizes are found through the bonus elements. So, for those with the budget, using the Bonus Buy feature on this game makes a lot of sense; the trouble is, that UK players no longer have this option.
This leaves UK gamers with an all-or-nothing type experience where the lowest wagers are higher than others, the variance and volatility are super high, and the symbol payouts are very low. With so much choice available within the Asian-themed slot genre, it is clear to me that unless the Temujin Treasures slot gets a rework from Pragmatic Play punters may be better off spinning the reels of similar slot machines.
Still, if I consider all the individual elements of the Temujin Treasures game, with a global market in mind, I rate this slot as a strong 8/10, with the caveat that for UK players, this would drop to 6/10.
